A 4-Week Practice Plan for the Multilevel Speaking Section
The most effective way to prepare for the Multilevel Speaking section is to practise out loud every day, even briefly. If you speak for 20–30 minutes a day for four weeks, you will build the habit of organising your ideas and not freezing mid-answer. Here is a simple week-by-week plan.
The official exam structure, timing and scoring rules can change. Check the latest information on uzbmb.uz and my.gov.uz.
Before you start: know your level
The plan changes with your level. If you are unsure where you stand, take a level test first and set your goal from the result.

Week 1: speak without stopping
The first goal is not perfect English, it is continuous English.
- Set a phone timer for 1 minute each day and talk about a simple topic: your routine, your family, your favourite food.
- Do not write notes or check a dictionary. If you miss a word, explain it with other words.
- Record yourself and listen back. Mark where you stopped.
I usually wake up at seven, and then I have breakfast with my family.
Week 2: structure your answer
Now give your answer a shape. A simple pattern works: opinion → reason → example.
- Opinion: I think learning English is important.
- Reason: Because it helps me find better jobs.
- Example: For example, my cousin got a job after he improved his English.
Use this pattern on two different topics every day. Learn linking words: firstly, in addition, however, for example, as a result.
Week 3: broader topics and describing pictures
In week three, move to harder tasks.
- Look at a picture and say what you can see, what is happening and what you think happened before.
- Compare two options: Studying alone has advantages, but studying in a group is more fun because...
- Mention the opposite view too: Some people disagree because...
Focus on vocabulary this week: learn 5 new phrases a day and use them in that day's speaking.
Week 4: recreate exam conditions
In the last week, practise the way the exam works.
- Limit your time and finish each answer without stopping.
- Pick a random topic and answer without preparing.
- Compare your recordings with the one from week 1 — you will hear the difference yourself.
Do not learn anything new the night before the exam, and get a good night's sleep.

How do you check yourself?
At the end of each week, listen to your recording and ask:
- Was my answer structured (opinion, reason, example)?
- How many times did I pause for a long time?
- Did I repeat the same word too often?
- Did I use tenses correctly?
Keep a notebook of your most frequent mistakes and aim to fix exactly those next week. AI scores in CEFRify are only an estimate and are not the same as an official exam result.
Frequently asked questions
Are 4 weeks enough?
It can be enough to strengthen basic skills and get used to the format. But level progress depends on where you start, and we cannot guarantee any result.
What if I have no speaking partner?
Talk to yourself and record it, or use AI tools. What matters is speaking out loud.
What if I am afraid of making mistakes?
In the exam, speaking clearly and continuously matters more than perfect grammar. Allow yourself to make mistakes during practice and analyse them afterwards.
